For more than 170 years, we have brewed the most refreshing beer in Austria, our Ottakringer. At the founding time of our brewery, there were still 44 breweries in the suburbs around Vienna. Today, we are the only urban brewery and one of the last major independent breweries in Austria – of which we are certainly very proud.
Ottakringer brewery as a medium-sized family business stands for the successful combination of tradition and innovation. We uphold the German Purity Law and brew only with the clearest spring water from our own fountain, the finest hops and solely Austrian barley.
We want to bring refreshment to the life of our customers and make the Ottakringer brand an experience for all senses. With humor and individuality, our advertising campaign reflects the bold self-image of the brewery and brings refreshment to the Austrian advertising scene.
It is only possible for us to create all this as a family business with the support of our employees, whose hearts beat for Ottakringer and who are involved in the entire process – from the selection of raw materials to the brewing process up to the moment of greatest beer pleasure – with their hearts and souls.

Individual and personal service as well as many years of experience allow us to understand our customers and act accordingly. Each customer is seen and cared for individually. We choose the best suiting products from our versatile assortment and create individual marketing and sales activities.
Our Beer
We brew our beer 100% from Austrian barley and make every effort to hold high the Austrian art of brewing, the variety of beers and the Purity Law – as a result, we were awarded the “AMA-Gütesiegel”, an Austrian seal of quality, as the first Austrian beer brand. Thus, a sip of Ottakringer is a sip of Austria. We are proud to guarantee this as an independent Austrian brewery.
Our event know-how
In our brewery’s event locations, cuisine, cult and culture merge to form a unique symbiosis. From private and corporate events to conferences up to clubbings – all events find their ideal setting in our locations (“Gerstenboden”, “Hopfenboden”, “Hefeboden” and “Alte Technik”).
As a partner of many major festivals and events, we provide not only our own equipment and a lot of ideas but also a healthy dose of fun and action. It is our goal to make indulging in Ottakringer a unique experience. This is precisely what makes us the most refreshing brewery far and wide.
Our advertising
We offer the perfect refreshment for every taste in every situation. This notion is at the root of not only our beer, but of all our activities and our marketing campaign. Therefore, Ottakringer now no longer refreshes ”just because“, Ottakringer is refreshing in itself! This is presented in our new advertising campaign: Cheeky phrases with rough edges – perfectly complemented by our new slogan ”Refreshingly Ottakringer“.
